Unlocking Your Potential

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorder that interferes with the executive functions that regulate focus, impulsivity, and activity levels. You may experience predominantly inattentive symptoms, predominantly hyperactive and impulse-related symptoms, or a combination of the two. The condition typically emerges between the ages of 6 and 12, but, without effective treatment, can continue to affect you into adulthood, where unmanaged symptoms can be deeply damaging. Your inhibited cognitive and emotional function can profoundly impact you socially, educationally, and professionally, leading to poor school and work performance and difficulties forming and maintaining relationships. As a result, you may develop low self-esteem, become socially isolated, and suffer from painful interpersonal conflicts. People with ADHD are also more likely to suffer from mood disordersanxiety disorders, and substance abuse, creating complex psychological needs that require sophisticated interventions.

ADHD symptoms include:

  • Disorganization and forgetfulness
  • Chronic lateness
  • Poor time management skills
  • Reckless and thoughtless impulsivity
  • Problems sitting still
  • Mood swings and irritability
  • Easily losing your temper
  • An inability to deal with criticism
  • Racing thoughts and overwhelming restlessness
  • Compulsive multi-tasking
