Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is commonly associated with children, but this serious mental health disorder can have devastating effects on the lives of adults. At Bridges to Recovery, we offer intensive treatment for adults with ADHD to support the formation of healthy emotional and behavioral patterns and to heal from the damage the disorder has caused in your life. Our rigorous assessment process allows us to provide diagnostic clarity and ensure that the full scope of your symptoms is being addressed in a way that is meaningful for you. Through a structured program of intensive individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and holistic therapies combined with appropriate psychotropic medication, we guide you through an exploration of your psychological and behavioral symptoms and instill new coping skills to enhance focus and self-regulation. With the support of our experienced multidisciplinary team, you can engage in the critical work of healing to create a more stable, rewarding life that allows you to reach your potential.

Unlocking Your Potential

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorder that interferes with the executive functions that regulate focus, impulsivity, and activity levels. You may experience predominantly inattentive symptoms, predominantly hyperactive and impulse-related symptoms, or a combination of the two. The condition typically emerges between the ages of 6 and 12, but, without effective treatment, can continue to affect you into adulthood, where unmanaged symptoms can be deeply damaging. Your inhibited cognitive and emotional function can profoundly impact you socially, educationally, and professionally, leading to poor school and work performance and difficulties forming and maintaining relationships. As a result, you may develop low self-esteem, become socially isolated, and suffer from painful interpersonal conflicts. People with ADHD are also more likely to suffer from mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and other mental health disorders, creating complex psychological needs that require sophisticated interventions.

ADHD symptoms include:

  • Disorganization and forgetfulness
  • Chronic lateness
  • Poor time management skills
  • Reckless and thoughtless impulsivity
  • Problems sitting still
  • Mood swings and irritability
  • Easily losing your temper
  • An inability to deal with criticism
  • Racing thoughts and overwhelming restlessness
  • Compulsive multi-tasking

With a maximum of only six clients at a time, Bridges to Recovery provides an intimate, inviting setting where your progress can be closely monitored by our experienced clinicians.
