Individual integrative psychotherapy is a collaborative process in which you and your therapist work together to uncover the obstacles keeping you from moving forward, and create new paths for progress. Using a variety of empirically supported modalities, your therapist will guide you through an exploration of your experiences, emotions, and perceptions while establishing better coping skills and healthier thought processes. The immersive treatment program at Bridges to Recovery provides you with at least four (4) individual psychotherapy sessions per week with your primary therapist, creating an intensity that cannot be replicated in an outpatient setting. Psychodynamic therapy investigates how unconscious processes, early childhood experiences, and interpersonal relationships influence current behaviors and emotional states. Sometimes referred to as insight-oriented therapy, this modality brings to light unconscious conflicts that can manifest in the present and cause dysfunction. While gaining greater insight into the sources and manifestations of your distress, you will also develop new internal resources to disrupt destructive patterns and work towards resolution. A trusting client-therapist relationship is central to psychodynamic practice, as the quality of the relationship can impact the effectiveness of the treatment.
Depending on your situation, individual therapy sessions may include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), providing you with the opportunity to work with these practices in both one-on-one and group settings. DBT can be particularly useful if you present with disordered affect regulation, including self-destructive and impulsive behavior.
