“I’ve always associated residential care with fear and feeling dismissed. The safety and respect I felt at Bridges definitely accelerated my recovery.”

Individual Integrative Psychotherapy

Individual integrative psychotherapy is a collaborative process in which you and your therapist work together to uncover the obstacles keeping you from moving forward, and create new paths for progress. Using a variety of empirically supported modalities, your therapist will guide you through an exploration of your experiences, emotions, and perceptions while establishing better coping skills and healthier thought processes. Therapy can also give you a language for articulating and understanding yourself and the world around you, enhancing insight and decreasing isolation.

Healing Through Intensive Therapy

The immersive treatment program at Bridges to Recovery provides you with at least four (4) individual psychotherapy sessions per week with your primary therapist, creating an intensity that cannot be replicated in an outpatient setting. Free from the stresses of ordinary life, you can devote yourself fully to the therapeutic process, making it possible for psychotherapy to be more impactful and lead to rapid change. This amplified format also encourages faster creation of a trusting bond between you and your therapist, which further intensifies the healing process and improves outcomes.

After thorough assessment, our psychiatrists and doctorate-level therapists will develop an individualized treatment plan that integrates the therapeutic practices that best meet your specific needs. Your individual therapist will serve as your touchstone throughout your time at Bridges to Recovery. Because a good client-therapist match is vital to give the best possible experience, we carefully pair you with a therapist who has specialized expertise to address your unique situation. All of our individual therapists draw from psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral frameworks along with a variety of other philosophies and practices to provide the most complete care.

Psychodynamic Therapy at Bridges to Recovery

Psychodynamic therapy investigates how unconscious processes, early childhood experiences, and interpersonal relationships influence current behaviors and emotional states. Sometimes referred to as insight-oriented therapy, this modality brings to light unconscious conflicts that can manifest in the present and cause dysfunction. While gaining greater insight into the sources and manifestations of your distress, you will also develop new internal resources to disrupt destructive patterns and work towards resolution. A trusting client-therapist relationship is central to psychodynamic practice, as the quality of the relationship can impact the effectiveness of the treatment.

Depending on your situation, individual therapy sessions may include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), providing you with the opportunity to work with these practices in both one-on-one and group settings. DBT can be particularly useful if you present with disordered affect regulation, including self-destructive and impulsive behavior.

Bridges to Recovery believes that individual psychotherapy is a core component of mental health disorder treatment, and has created a tapestry of evidence-based methods to help you find psychological relief.
