Relationship Issues
Brides to Recovery recognize the strain and difficulties a relationship goes through when one person in the relationship is suffering psychological issues. Couple relationships, family relationships, parent relationships, and social relationships are affected by depression, compulsive behaviors, and psychological disorders.
Although relationship troubles affect everyone, our patients are usually experiencing extreme emotions around boundaries, behaviors, and social skills. It is very hard to maintain relationships with others when an individual feels out of control with him or herself. To address relationship problems in treatment, a person knows they will begin to address within themselves the nature of what part they played in the destruction of the relationship.
In a marriage many times problems such as communicating, financial struggles, and sexual differences can strain even the best marriage. Counseling is always an option, however, our patients usually are in a personal crisis and this crisis must be addressed before the relationship can heal.
Family and social relationships are tested when an individual starts to exhibit ongoing emotional turmoil and struggles. We understand these struggles from both perspectives. When involved with our treatment philosophy we will encourage our patients to include their family members if the patient is comfortable with their involvement. Depression causes a gradual disintegration of communication between loved ones. Triggers of immense rage and frustration can be exhibited symptoms of psychological trauma. Both the identified patient and their loved one can have such symptomology. It is important to begin the healing process by addressing the underlying problem not the symptoms.
