Bridges to Recovery Intro Video
Since 2003, our mission at Bridges to Recovery has been to ease the suffering of hundreds of people troubled by depression, panic, anxiety, and other mental health disorders through our unique model of compassionate and customized care.
At Bridges, we have empowered and motivated hundreds of individuals through a unique and effective combination of psychotherapy and cutting edge therapies, a holistic and integrative approach.
Clinical Director, Dr. Trevor Small
We developed Bridges to Recovery because we could see that people suffering from mental health disorders wanted help but they did not want to go to into a hospital or clinic.
By developing Bridges, we set a new standard for mental health; a premier, licensed residential mental health facility designed as an alternative to a large and less personalized hospital environment.
We can address and treat very complex and difficult mental health issues that normally would be treated in a hospital setting. Our small and intimate setting makes our clients feel comfortable and allows them to really open up and accelerate their healing process”.
Narrator:
Located in the exclusive residential areas of Los Angeles -- Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica and Bel Air -- our small, boutique programs are certified by the Department of Mental Health and licensed by the state of California to ensure the highest level of care. We provide world-class individualized care to people from across the United States and the world.
Clinical Director Dr. Trevor Small:
The first step in treating any illness is to understand what is happening to you. We have a panel of experts that determine the best course of treatment for you. You will be appointed your personal psychiatrist and a therapist who is highly qualified to treat your specific disorder and who is personalized just for you and most relevant for your treatment. Once our interdisciplinary team develops a treatment plan, we use an advanced, integrated approach that includes both traditional therapies, like individual psychotherapy and group therapy combined with progressive holistic therapies like yoga, acupuncture, meditation, music, art, nutrition and exercise. We have found that using methods like Individual psychotherapy along with holistic therapies and cutting edge therapies; such as EMDR, SE, DBT, and Neurofeedback, really integrates the emotional, spiritual, physical and mental. This allows the clients we see to make personal breakthroughs more quickly.
Narrator:
We understand that our clients come from a unique back round and at Bridges, we offer three different levels of care and accommodation that acknowledge our clients needs for wellbeing and contentment; Our Pacific Palisades house, our Santa Monica house and our Bel Air house. (Frederick this sounds like repeat of opening. Is it worth repeating
Medical Director, Dr. Michael Brodsky:
At Bridges, we have documented so much success working with Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Trauma, Life Adjustment, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Mood Regulation and other types of disorders and a big part of that success comes from our highly trained and experienced/certified staff. We have a very high staff to client ratio with 1 professional for every two clients . We have found that this high staff to client ratio has had an exceptional impact on the healing of our clients. With the attention of an outstanding treatment team, our client’s feel heard and cared for - this helps them open up and feel safe. All of the therapists involved in your treatment are PhD level and because we are licensed by the department of mental health, you will have your own psychiatrist that will handle your medication and will adjust it as your treatment progresses.
Nutritionist, August McLaughlin:
When clients first arrive, I spend time understanding their diet and nutrition history and how it has effected their overall health. Many times when people are suffering with a mental illness, they tend to ignore their diet..which actually can make them feel worse. Through nutritional advice and counseling, nutritional screening and assessment, health promotion and disease prevention strategies, we help clients create a new way of looking at food as another tool as another way to help them feel better mentally and physically throughout their lives”
Program Director, Mary Lou Devlin:
Many clients ask me what their day will look like and I tell them your stay will be comfortable yet challenging. Most days will be busy learning new skills and developing tools to create more stability in your life. A typical day may begin with personal journal time followed by an individual psychotherapy session.
During the day you will participate in a variety of group sessions specifically designed and selected to meet your needs. A typical day may include group sessions like Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Conflict Resolution, Relationship Dynamics and Art and Music Therapy.
The remainder of your day is broken up with less intensive sessions such as nutritional counseling, health and fitness activities and cultural outings.
After dinner you can take part in a variety of relaxing activities like Massage, Acupuncture, Yoga and Meditation.
